What is a standard tariff?

A standard tariff within the context of UUE assumes that your utility supplier gives you a fixed rate per unit of energy that you consume as shown in the table below*

Standard Tariff
Unit rate**15.57p per kWh
Standing Charge23.47p per day
Discounts and additional chargesNone
VAT5%

* The figures are hypothetical

**Unit rate is a constant value per kWh regardless of time of day

What is other tariff?

Other tariff within the context of UUE means the rate per unit of energy consumed varies depending on the time of the day. Also you may/may not have some form of discount on the rates as illustrated in the table below*

Other Tariff
                Unit rate**DayNight  15.57p per kWh8.72p per kWh
Standing Charge23.47p per day
Discounts and additional charges3%
VAT5%

* The figures are hypothetical

**Unit rate varies value per kWh depending on the of time of day

I am on the other tariff can I still use UUE ?

If you are on the other tariff the cost you calculate will vary from your actual cost but based on this value you can forecast if your next bill will be more than the last one as long as the rates in the settings have not been changed. See other tariff user to see how you can set up and use UUE as other tariff user.

What is the difference between the monthly bill from my supplier and the cost calculated by UUE?

Because people do not normally submit their metre readings on the first day of each month consistently, utility suppliers have to estimate your energy usage to calculate your monthly bill based on the previous values you submitted.

UUE does not give a monthly bill per se, UUE calculates the cost of usage from the date of last reading taken to the date of current reading submitted. if you want to use UUE to see the cost of your monthly bill then you will have to submit readings consistently on the first day of each month. Note that you have be on a standard tariff for now to be able to compare the cost with your bill.

How do I calculate my monthly bill with UUE?

If you are on a standard tariff and want to use UUE to calculate your monthly bill and compare it with that of your supplier then you will need to submit your metre readings consistently on the first day of each month for both UUE and your utility supplier. The metre readings will synchronize after the second monthly reading and a true comparison can be made onwards as long as the readings are taken consistently on the first day of the month. In other words to properly compare both bills you will need to initially submit two successive monthly readings both on the first day of each month to sync UUE readings with supplier readings.

What does it mean for my meter to clock?

Your metre clocks after it reaches its highest possible value e.g. 99999 and then it starts from 00000 all over again.

How far can I forecast?

You can forecast your usage cost up to one year from the present date.
